A black queer experience
Rain
Rain

Rain

How painful it can be.

How beautiful it can be.

How refreshing it can be.

How rewarding it can be.

I always seem to fall in love with the rain.

Always for different reasons.

Always a different me.

I love what it brings.

I love the love it brings.

The softness of a drizzle.

The intensity of a storm.

When it is accompanied by wind.

I love the calmness of that wind.

I love the roughness of that wind.

I love the combination

Of rain and wind.

I love the unpredictability of it all.

I love the love it brings.

The love it brings to flowers.

The love it brings to the earth.

What a beautiful kind of love.

I love the renewal.

The refreshed earth after rain.

My refreshed love

After rain.

Rain falls,

Like my tears

And I’m grateful for both.

I’m grateful for the falling.

I’m grateful for the residue.

Grateful for the rebirth

Grateful for the rain.

I love what it leaves behind.

The same

But different.

The same

But love.

It leaves me

And it takes me.

It kisses me

And loves me.

It hits me.

It hugs me.

It is.

It isn’t.

How painful it can be.

How beautiful it can be.

How refreshing it can be.

How rewarding it can be.

I always seem to fall in love with the rain.

Always for different reasons.

Always a different me.
